Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Nadika Wickramaratna grew up in the city of Moratuwa, just outside of the capital. Even as a child, she was full of life, overflowing with creativity and imagination. Her love of colour and fabrics stems from her high school days when learning the basics of sewing from her mother. Before long, she began creating her own patchwork designs to decorate her family home.

Following her higher education, Nadika built a 12-year career as a Senior Accountant. Prior to the birth of her second child, she decided to dedicate herself to her family.

Her passion for patchwork was resurrected when she renovated her family home. Supported by her
architect and now family friend, Ravinda Paranamana, she designed and created an art piece which
served to anchor the overall design. Her imagination well fueled, she continued to design and create one
mesmerizing patchwork after another sparking inspiration that drew out ideas faster than she could
bring them to life. She began to get requests for custom creations, serving a niche market. A number of
her notable works are on display at famous hotels and leading business office premises in Sri Lanka.

Although she specializes in patchwork wall hangings, her work extends to a wider range, including
ceiling designs, sofa cushions, table runners etc. She also works with architects, bringing their ideas to
life through art of fabric.
